Lexington, KY – Lexington Sporting Club is thrilled to announce the signing of defender Kendall Burks to its inaugural USL Championship Men’s Team roster. Burks, a versatile and experienced center-back, is set to bring strength and leadership to Lexington SC as the club prepares for its first season in the league.
“I am excited to be signing with Lexington SC, and I can’t wait to get started,” said Burks. “It’s a great opportunity to be able to represent Lexington in the club’s first USL Championship season. Ready to give everything for the club and the fans.”
A native of Federal Way, Washington, Burks began his soccer journey with Washington Premier FC, winning four state titles before excelling at Stadium High School, where he earned multiple MVP honors. His collegiate career featured standout performances at both California State University, Bakersfield, and the University of Washington. While at Washington, he made 38 appearances, scored five goals, and earned All-Region and All-Pac-12 honors.
Burks also gained valuable experience in USL League Two, playing for the Seattle Sounders U-23 team. During his time with the Sounders, he showcased his defensive capabilities while competing against some of the nation’s top young talent. This early exposure to high-level competition laid the foundation for his professional success.
Drafted 11th overall by Chicago Fire FC in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, Burks further developed his skills in Major League Soccer, making 13 first-team appearances and 25 appearances with Chicago Fire II, where he scored one goal. Most recently, he played in the USL Championship, solidifying his reputation as a dependable and dynamic defender.
“Kendall is a very strong defender and versatile in the backline,” said Lexington SC Head Coach Terry Boss. “His confidence and ability on the ball will help us cleanly start our attack. He is dominant in the air and will be an asset in both boxes.”
Burks is the latest signing in Lexington SC’s growing roster, which reflects the club’s commitment to building a competitive and community-focused team.
