Lexington Sporting Club announced the official signing of club W League standout JJ Aalbue to the inaugural USL Super League roster pending league and federation approval on Wednesday, July 3rd.
Aalbue, who played a full season over the summer with the club in the USL W League as a midfielder and forward, joined Lexington after graduating most recently playing for Montreat College, an NAIA institution in North Carolina.
Originally from Winona Lake, Indiana, Aalbue began her collegiate soccer career in 2019 with Grace College & Seminary — another NAIA institution — in her hometown.
Scoring 17 goals and racking up 18 assists in 23 started games, she stayed at Grace for three more years, adding an additional 27 goals and 22 assists, being named a team captain as a junior.
In between her sophomore and junior seasons, Aalbue also underwent her first of two stints with the Charlotte Eagles in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), an amateur women’s league in the United States.
She scored one goal and notched three assists with one start in eight appearances in 2022, but returned in 2023 for two appearances, both of which saw her get the starting nod, and helped lead the team to the Championship Tournament.
Transferring to Montreat College in 2023, Aalbue tacked on an additional 12 goals and seven (7) assists to her career totals, starting in all 17 appearances with the Cavaliers.
Her young career has already seen her rack up a plethora of personal accolades including being named Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2023, NCCAA Player of the Year in 2019, a two-time Crossroads League Offensive Player of the Year (2019,2022), a two-time NCCAA National Tournament MVP (2021-22), and a two-time NCCAA National Champion (2021-22).
