TAMPA, Fla. – Lexington SC’s Austin Causey was named to the USL League One Week 31 Team of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Lexington SC faced off against Greenville Triumph SC on the road in the final match of the club’s inaugural professional season. It reached a 1-1 draw after a late equalizer by the home side.
Causey logged seven saves during his time in the match, maintaining the shutout until he was subbed off in the 90+5th minute for academy star Luke Phillips.
The appearance on the Team of the Week was the first, and will prove to be the only, appearance for Causey during the 2023 season as Lexington SC concluded its year below the playoff line.
With the season concluded, Lexington SC will transition into the offseason phase of the year as it gears up for the 2024 season.
The club also recently announced its plans for a state of the art soccer-specific stadium to be built in Lexington that will serve both the men’s and women’s USL Super League teams, with the latter also making its debut in 2024.
