LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Sporting Club announced another new addition to its 2024 USL League One roster pending league and federation approval on Friday.
27-year-old defender Christian Lue Young is set to join the club after most recently playing for North Carolina FC in the USL League One. The club transitioned back into the USL Championship in the offseason after winning the USL League One Final.
Born in Plantation, Florida, Lue Young – a right back – started his career at Weston FC – currently in the USL League Two – before beginning his collegiate career.
During his collegiate years he played for three schools, first starting out at Army West Point before moving to Broward College and ultimately ending up at former NCAA Division-I National Champion Akron.
During his stint with Akron, he signed with Tormenta FC II in USL League Two during the summer — as the league does not remove collegiate eligibility.
After college, Lue Young joined Fort Lauderdale CF, not yet rebranded into Inter Miami II, in the USL League One — where he met Lexington SC head coach Darren Powell, along with teammates Modesto Méndez and Abel Caputo.
“Welcome to Lexington, Christian! He joins after 2 successful seasons in USL1 with NCFC — winning the title this year. His experience will be very valuable to our squad — Christian is a threatening forward who likes to join the attack and times his runs well. Defensively he takes up good positions to intercept, recover and block opponents. Looking for to reconnect with him in Lexington!” Said head coach Darren Powell.
After two years in Florida, he joined North Carolina FC in January 2022 as a free transfer.
In 2023 he made 30 appearances for the club, recording two assists and starting over 80% of the matches across the season – along with a 100% start rate during the club’s championship run.
“Excited to join a club like Lexington SC with high aspirations like myself,” Lue Young said. “It was an easy decision to come and play for a coach whose style of play suits me and I’m looking forward to helping the team have a successful season!”

Lexington SC is set to kick off its 2024 campaign at home against NC Hailstorm FC on March 9.
