Lexington, KY – Lexington Sporting Club is thrilled to announce the signing of midfielder Eliot Goldthorp, pending league and federation approval, a rising star who brings an inspiring mix of skill, passion, and determination to the club’s USL Championship men’s team.
“Eliot is a smart, technical player that can score and play the final pass,” said Head Coach Terry Boss. “He is versatile and will make our attack more diverse and dangerous.”
Born and raised in Leeds, England, Goldthorp’s journey in football is a testament to hard work and ambition. Making his professional debut at just 17 with Bradford City, he displayed a maturity beyond his years. Seeking to grow further, he transitioned to the collegiate level at Hofstra University, where he became a household name in U.S. soccer. His 2023 season was nothing short of remarkable, leading the NCAA in goals (20) and points (45), earning two All-American honors, and being named United Soccer Coaches Division I Player of the Year. Goldthorp’s leadership on the pitch guided Hofstra to a CAA tournament title and a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
In 2024, he brought his talents to the Vancouver Whitecaps, continuing to refine his game in a professional setting. Now, Goldthorp takes the next step in his career with Lexington SC, a club whose ambition and vision resonate deeply with him.
