LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Lexington Sporting Club roster build continues Thursday, as 25-year-old right back, Tate Robertson, has been named to the United Soccer League (USL) League One squad, pending federation and league approval.
Robertson joins Lexington SC in their inaugural season with several years of experience, including time spent in USL League Two and the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA).
Following his youth career at Ohio Galaxies, Robertson, originally from Springfield, Ohio, stayed in state and was a four-year starter at Bowling Green State University. He earned multiple all-conference honors and finished his career with eight goals and 22 assists in 71 matches.
During and after his tenure at BGSU, Robertson appeared for Dayton Dutch Lions in USL League Two, and more recently played for NISA clubs Stumptown Athletic and Chattanooga FC.
When asked what it means to be among the first ever signings for Lexington Sporting Club, Robertson said, “It means so much. The staff has confidence in my abilities and I’m praying the fans will accept me as I’m ready to fight for them.
“Winning a championship is always the goal,” he continued. “Scoring goals and getting clean sheets should be our priority. Having a product on the field that will keep the fans coming back.”
“Tate is an attack-minded fullback that fits our player profile very well,” said Sam Stockley, LSC’s head coach. “He’s technically sound and has sufficient final third entries, possessing a variety of crosses. He’s a solid one-v-one defender, stays patient and calm, and will be a great teammate.”
Fans can follow Tate Robertson on Instagram and Twitter.

Lexington begins the USL League One season March 18 at One Knox SC, and will welcome Forward Madison FC for the home opener April 8. The full schedule can be found here.
