Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Caputo started his career outside his home country in Spain with the U19 squad of Levante U.D. — He then moved to Belgium where he joined KSV Roeselare, which has since ceased operations.
Caputo moved to the United States in 2020 to join the Florida Soccer Soldiers of the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL). One year later he would join Fort Lauderdale CF, which has since rebranded into Inter Miami II, where he met now Lexington Sporting Club head coach Darren Powell and fellow signee Modesto Méndez.
Head Coach Darren Powell
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Abel to Lexington. Abel is a player that is very versatile and will help the team in several different positions, but mainly as a midfielder. He is an intelligent player in and out of possession — and his range of passing is able to influence the tempo of the game short and long. He is able to read the game out of possession and make timely interceptions. Looking forward to connecting with him in Lexington,”
